With her newfound ability to sit up, she finds new terrain to explore.

She got those little fingers surprisingly deep into my nose. She also decided that my nose needed to be bitten. Those two little teeth she has are quite sharp. Her mother, who is breastfeeding now, enjoyed watching that a whole lot.

Visitors brought her this beautiful set of orchids.

She did appreciate the flowers. "Flower pretty...want to eat pretty flower..."

"Papa" is making bright light again--gotta check that out.
Akari now sits up and balances on her own. She can use her hands to play with things instead of holding herself up. She likes this new perspective.

I love this picture. What a smile!

Akari and her new friend.

We had some friends over recently. The babies seem to get along well. He is two months older.

We ought to be able to embarrass them with these pictures in the future.

New Years Holidays 2008

Akari's first successful rollover without one of her arms pinned under her chest.

Is that a look of pride on her face? If so, I hope she uses that energy to learn how to roll back.

The music tonight will be played by Akari. She'll start off with something up-beat. (No, she can't actually play anything. She just bangs on the keys. She 'practices' every day though and loves it. We make good use of the volume control.)

She moves into the mellow part of the set.

And finishes up with something old-school groovy. (Actually, she usually finishes up with attempting to bite the keys. )

Five months

Recently she holds herself up while standing. She has loved standing while her hands are held for the past couple months, but this is new. I often let her stand while she is on the train and I suspect she developed the strength and balance through that.

This is shortly after she rolled over for the first time. She generally has no interest in being on her tummy, but occasionally, she gets motivated and rolls over.

In the next series of pictures, I set the camera on her and snapped pictures while I talked to her. She was "talking" back and resulted in some pretty good shots.

She got her first tooth a few weeks back. You can see it in this picture. Now she has two very prominent bottom teeth.
